MyChamplainValley (ABC 22/FOX 44) morning reporter Alaina Pinto (myChamplainValleyFacebookTwitter) stopped by the Adirondack Art Association on Thursday, June 9 to discover firsthand why everyone is so excited about the new art season in Essex.

Alaina Pinto interviewed local photographer Karen Parker who crafts beautiful bead-woven jewelry. Her degree in biology has inspired a collection of insect pieces (including butterflies and bees) on display at the AAA Gallery. She described the process for creating one typical piece and said it takes about 2 1/2-3 hours to craft the pendant-piece and another hour to fashion it into a necklace.

George Davis discussed two books of his that are for sale at the AAA Gallery and feature his artwork. Essex, New York Architecture: A Doodler’s Field Guide features descriptions and doodles of historic Essex buildings/homes and architectural features and 40×41: Midlife Crisis Postponed contains both written and visual poems about midlife. Both are projects of Essex Editions, a boutique publishing company he began this year.

Here’s the excerpt about the Adirondack Art Association from the MyChamplainValley (ABC 22/FOX 44) archive from the day of interviews:

The Adirondack Art Association is open for the season. More than 60 local artists from surrounding counties showcase their work in the galleries and workshops are offered for all ages.

It’s located right on the water next to the Essex, NY and Charlotte, VT ferry. The nonprofit is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm. Classes for children are free this summer and more can be found on the Facebook and website.
